Synopsis :

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is an action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is third game in the Uncharted series, and was released in November 2011 for the PlayStation 3. The single-player story follows Nathan Drake, who partners his mentor Victor Sullivan, as they search for the legendary lost city the Iram of the Pillars, whilst they battle a mercenary group led by Sullivan’s former employer and romantic interest, Katherine Marlowe. The game’s world is navigated on foot or by vehicle, and players are required to use Drake’s platforming abilities to progress the story, which also features puzzle sequences, while many missions involve shooting and combat gameplay. It is played through a third-person perspective. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception also contain a rewards system for completing certain pre-determined objectives. Development for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception began in 2010, and was approached with incorporating locations distinct from the series’ previous entries, with the team deciding on a desert and urban areas, while they drew inspiration for the plot from archaeologist T. E. Lawrence. Naughty Dog also aimed to upgrade the game’s openness and realism, which was done through increasing the volume of motion capture and voice acting, as well as conducting field research for better visual environments and sounds. The development team also sought to improve the multiplayer system, which included new competitive and cooperative modes, while the game is also notable for being one of the first to carry the new online PlayStation Network Pass feature. Extensively marketed and widely anticipated, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception received generally positive reception from game critics upon release, with praise directed toward its voice acting, graphics, cinematic quality and story, however, criticism was directed at the lack of single-player unlockables, some technical issues, and relative failure to live up to its more critically successful predecessor. Nonetheless, the game received Game of the Year accolades from numerous publications and award events, and was a commercial success, selling over ten million copies worldwide. The game was then followed by a sequel titled Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in 2016, and was re-released on PlayStation 4 as part of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. In a London pub, Nathan Drake (Nolan North) and Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Richard McGonagle) meet Talbot (Robin Atkin Downes), who is interested in purchasing Nate’s ring belonging to his ancestor Sir Francis Drake. The duo accuse Talbot of offering counterfeit banknotes, and a fight ensues. Outside, they are subdued by Talbot’s cohort, Charlie Cutter (Graham McTavish), and Talbot’s employer, Katherine Marlowe (Rosalind Ayres), steals Drake’s ring. Cutter shoots Nate and Sully. 20 years earlier, the teenage Nate (Billy Unger) searches a museum in Cartagena, Colombia, for the ring. He sees Sully, then unknown to him, working with Marlowe to retrieve the ring. Nate is caught by Marlowe and her henchmen, but Sully rescues him and takes him on as his protege. In the present, Nate and Sully have survived; Cutter is in fact their ally, who worked with them to track down Marlowe. With the help of Chloe Frazer (Claudia Black), they trace Marlowe’s car to an underground library. They retrieve T. E. Lawrence’s notebook and a map showing Francis Drake’s secret voyage to Arabia, where he was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth I and John Dee to find the lost city of Ubar. Nate deduces that clues to Ubar’s location lie in Crusader crypts in a French chateau and a Syrian citadel. He and Sully locate the abandoned chateau in France. They find one half of an amulet inside the crypt, but are ambushed by Talbot and his men, who take the amulet and set the chateau on fire. Nate and Sully escape. In Syria, Nate and Sully meet Chloe and Cutter, who have learned that Marlowe is the head of the same order to which Francis Drake belonged. The group finds the second crypt and the other half of the amulet, revealing the location of the next clue, in Yemen. As they escape Marlowe’s men, Cutter breaks his leg. He and Chloe are forced to abandon the quest.
